Meet the Veterinarians & Staff of Greenhaven Animal Clinic

William Armbruster, DVM
I was born in Central Illinois, in Logan County, and grew up on a grain and livestock farm. I attended college at the University of Illinois for my undergraduate degree in animal science and then again for veterinary school. I graduated from the University of Illinois Veterinary School with honors in 1988.
Upon graduation, I returned to the area and started working at Greenhaven Animal Clinic, where I had worked as an intern during summers and school breaks. I have continued my education over the years with numerous seminars and conferences, also graduating from the Executive Veterinary Program at the University of Illinois. I strive to practice the highest quality veterinary medicine available.
I enjoy the mixed animal practice environment. I love the challenges that this type of atmosphere can bring, working with both large and small animals.
I was lucky enough to meet my wife, Kay, shortly after graduation. We were married in May 1990, and we have been blessed with three wonderful boys: Michael, a freshman at St. Louis College of Pharmacy; Logan, a junior at Lincoln High School; and William, a freshman at Lincoln High School. All three boys have been very active in sports and other extra-curricular activities, which keep us quite busy.
In my "spare" time, I enjoy being outdoors hunting, fishing, or working on landscaping. We also enjoy traveling and seeing different parts of the United States.
Karren Eales, DVM
I realized early on that I wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. In the fourth grade, we were asked the question, "Where will you be when you are 25?" I answered, "In veterinary school!"
I graduated from the University of Illinois in 2002, and joined the Greenhaven family in 2003. My interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and integrative medicine using conventional and nonconventional approaches to helping animals heal. I recently passed the testing for certification in veterinary acupuncture, and I enjoy using this modality to bring balance to our patients. I am also involved with Pets Without Parents and Operation S.A.F.E., rescue organizations that work to better the lives of animals in central Illinois.
I enjoy spending time with my family–my husband, Dr. George, and our two young boys. Our family also includes three active dogs, one terrific cat, and two well-fed horses. As you might guess, in my "spare" time, I long for more spare time!
George Eales, DVM
I have been a member of the Greenhaven Animal Clinic team since 2003. I am a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. My professional interests include equine dental care, lameness, and reproduction, and I have pursued continuing education in these areas. I enjoy the benefits and challenges of a mixed animal practice in a small town setting.
I am married to Dr. Karren and we have two boys. We share our home with three dogs, Murphy, Truman, and Nugget; one cat, Jose; and two horses, Martha and Gideon. My personal interests include American history, genealogy, and bow hunting.
Jeff Korus, DVM
I was born and raised in a small town in northeast Nebraska, growing up on a farm just outside of Lindsay where we raised all kinds of livestock. In high school, I enjoyed playing football, basketball, and track for Lindsay Holy Family.
After high school, I attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, studied pre-veterinary medicine, and received my bachelor’s degree in veterinary science. I then attended Kansas State University and received my doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2008. After graduation, I moved to Illinois and began practicing veterinary medicine at Greenhaven Animal Clinic.
When I am not at the clinic, I can be found at home with my wife, Kathy, and our herd of dogs and cats. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and watching football–especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers!
Veterinary Technicians
T. J. Cook, Large Animal Assistant
I have been working as a large animal assistant at Greenhaven Animal Clinic for 3 years. Working with the large animals, I have learned a lot from the doctors and the staff. Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of activities, such as trail riding, working with my own animals, and hanging out with friends.
Tina Lynn, Certified Veterinary Technician
I have worked at Greenhaven as a part-time CVT for 2 years and have been employed full time at the Animal Emergency Clinic for the last 12 years. I graduated from the Parkland College Vet Tech Program.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Kevin, for 12 years, and we have two children, Katie and J. R. During free time, we enjoy camping, horseback riding, and bicycling. We are also active in Girl Scouts, 4-H, Boy Scouts, football, basketball, and school and church activities. We have numerous animals, including horses, ponies, goats, chickens, cats, and dogs.
Katalina Stuckey, Certified Veterinary Technician
I am a CVT at Greenhaven and love working with both small and large animals. I have been here since my internship in June 2008. When I am not at work, I am taking care of my three dogs and three cats and riding my horse. I also enjoy hunting with my husband.
Nikki Swallows, Certified Veterinary Technician
I graduated from Parkland College’s Vet Tech Program in 2009 and began working at Greenhaven Animal Clinic in the summer of 2010. I live at home with my horse, two dogs, a ferret, and two formerly homeless kittens.
Administrative Staff
Barb Duckworth, Office Manager
I will celebrate my 25th year at Greenhaven Animal Clinic in 2011. As office manager, I enjoy interacting with all of our clients and their pets, and I have made many good friends over the years.
I earned a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and animal science at the University of Illinois. I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 30 years, and we have two grown sons and one slightly obnoxious "grand-dog" named Jack. In our spare time, we enjoy traveling.
Nancy Baker, Reception
I have been the receptionist at Greenhaven for 7 years. Married to Melvin Baker, we live in Emden and have two adult sons. We have one cat named Sweetie. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy cooking, reading novels, crocheting, and learning to quilt.
Tina Coers, Veterinary Assistant/Inventory Manager
I was born and raised in this area and have worked at Greenhaven over 12 years. My job includes keeping track of inventory and helping day-to-day operations run smoothly. I look forward to seeing old and new patients and their owners. I have two grown children and some of my favorite pastimes are going to car races, concerts, and spending time with friends.
From Our Clients
On June 16th, I bought our 14 year old lab, Buddy, to you to have some ’issues’ worked out. I pretty much knew where the visit would go, as it did, but I will say that you made the ordeal ’not so bad. “ Buddy left me in peace, I know that in his eyes, and for that I will always be thankful. And the card and paw print you sent a few days later was very much appreciated.
~ Thank you!! Gary Bender and Buddy
